About Us

Riad El Yacout has been operating for decades, providing guests with exemplary hospitality and luxurious accommodation. Riads are traditional residential homes which have been renovated and restored to provide guests with an authentic Moroccan and Andalusian experience in the modern age. Riad El Yacout itself holds centuries of history, having been constructed during the 16th century during the rule of the Saadi dynasty. The Riad was commissioned by a Moroccan professor and polymath at the University of al-Qarawiyyin, the world's oldest higher-education institution (Madrasa), in the Saadian architectural style utilised in the design of El Badi Palace and other historic Moroccan palaces.
The Riad’s excellent location in the heart of the Medina (Old Town) has made it highly sought after by travellers, particularly because of its close proximity to Fes’s numerous UNESCO heritage sites such as Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), the doorway to the Fes Medina. Since opening its doors as a traditional, family-owned guest house in 2000, Riad El Yacout has hosted thousands of guests, including royals, artists, and celebrities. The rock band U2 famously recorded their grammy-nominated album No Line on the horizon in the Riad’s courtyard, and the Riad is featured in the music video of the song Magnificent. Guests have also enjoyed the many royal amenities the 16th century had to offer such as a relaxing afternoon tea in the courtyard, pool area, hamam (Moroccan Baths), and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Medina.
